| Hello Friends, Fans and Family, Autumn is here and things are moving right along with the new CD, forming new bands, and new musical directions: I just returned from a week at Unity Village attending THE two New Thought music events of the year: The Itoi Songwriter Tributes and Sound Connections Music Conference. I am now even more inspired by the power of music to heal, unite and transform! The week was jam-packed with so many talented friends who are dedicated to using music as a vehicle for personal and planetary improvement, and I got to witness those friends (and a few new ones) receive public recognition for their contribution to these efforts. For those who don’t know, the Itoi Songwriter Tribute is the New Thought music equivalent to the Grammy awards. A lot of people don’t know it, but there actually are several Grammy award winning songwriters in New Thought, as well as songwriters with major hit songs recorded by famous artists. But the best part of all has to be getting to experience first hand so much ego-less, humble warmth and generosity of spirit in such talented musicians! I am still putting the finishing touches on the 2nd CD; after several rehearsals we are about ready to add the background vocals. I’ve stopped trying to project when it will be complete, because every time I do it seems to get pushed back another 3 months!!! Creative projects really do have a life of their own and it’s so important to allow them the time they need to mature. In addition to singing around the Houston area and other Texas cities like Brownsville, San Marcos and San Antonio I’ve formed some other musical groups with friends: a women’s acappella trio called 3 of Hearts along with Lisa Canida and Katy Callahan, and a band called FreeSprit with Bruce Ross and Lisa Canida. 3 of Hearts has been performing at fundraisers such as Child Advocates of Fort Bend County and the American Heart Association. And a biker bar… Yes, a biker bar. Now we are about to gear up into our Christmas repertoire. Many of you know that my husband Brent Uzzell has made the decision to become a Unity Minister. He has become a frequent speaker at Unity churches in Houston and the south TX region, and has already developed quite a following! As you can probably imagine, we frequently team up together. Friend Cynthia Claxton is helping me get some much needed updates to my website (Yay!) and I have now created a MySpace page! I’d love for you to visit at: www.myspace.com/shannonmodrell. (The more visits I get, the more visibility I get ?) Thank you to everyone who read this far! And thanks for all of your support throughout the year, too! I love each and every one of you and consider you a blessing in my life!!!! Peace, |
