Epson Stylus SX400
The increase in popularity of all-in-one printers has seen the manufacturers making big efforts of try and corner the market. This has resulted in the prices falling to a level where they’re basically selling them at cost price. On one hand this is a good because the devices are cheap to buy but the downside is that the manufacturers has to make their profit back some how and they choose to do this by increasing the price of the replacement printer ink cartridges. An example of this is the Epson Stylus SX400 which offers printing, scanning and copying all for user £70. Epson SX400 ink cartridges however cost £30 but there are cheaper alternatives available in the form of compatible Epson ink cartridges which are manufactured by third party companies and offer the same print yields at half the price. With the availability of affordable consumables the SX400 becomes a very suitable product from a wide range of users. It’s printing performance can’t really be faulted, the print quality is excellent, better than excepted from a printer in the class and the speed is also reasonable although nothing to write home about. The scanning capabilities of the SX400 are very good with a maximum resolution of 1200dpi it can scan nothing from a basic page of text to a high resolution image up to A4. The photo copier function also makes use of this impressive flatbed scanner for producing it copies with a good balance of speed and quality. Overall the SX400 is an impressive device for such little money and would make a nice addition to most people’s home office.
